South Shore Soup – Success!
First South Shore Soup event success!
Thanks to our South Shore Chamber of Commerce for their support and sponsorship of the first South Shore “Soup” event. “Soup” is a micro-granting soup dinner event where ideas are pitched to help South Milwaukee, St. Francis, and Cudahy and those in attendance vote on the ideas and award the mini grant made up of monies from the $10.00 dinner registration.
The first event on October 21st at Joe’s K Ranch was a great success thanks to the K Ranch, our generous donors as well as the South Shore Soup committee and coordinator, Trish Wimer.
Amanda Runte, SSCC administrative assistant, and the SSCC Board also provided the support needed to make the event a success.
Soup donators included Joe’s K Ranch, Muskee’s Gourmet House,
and Swayz. Dessert was donated by Jen’s Sweet Treats and flat wear and bowls by Modern Woodmen. These donors and sponsors were essential and their contributions are sincerely appreciated.
The South Shore committee was able to get a photo with Fran Snowden, President of the Friends of St. Francis Library the recipient of the first South Shore Soup mini grant of $530.00. Joining in on the photo was MaryEllen Hermann, Chair of Soup events in BayView. (Trish and CoryAnn were assisted by MaryEllen in getting the project developed)
All three projects presented at the Soup dinner were worthy of a mini grant. Projects from the Cudahy Historical Society as well as South Milwaukee Community Compost were presented. Even though they were not awarded this time, these projects can present at future Soup events. “Projects can submit again for future Soup events being held in February and April and we are always open to new projects! The South Shore Chamber website will keep the Soup information available. We could not have made this happen without the chamber and donor support”, stated Trish Wimer, South Shore Soup Coordinator.
Watch for the next soup events to be announced at www.ssccwi.com and email Trish Wimer at trish2@wi.rr.com for more information.
